I started blowing glass at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, in the year 2000 and continued to blow glass independently at private studios to refine my glassblowing skills. I have further studied mold-making, the fusing and slumping of glass in ovens, torchworking or lampworking glass - a process by which small glass sculptures and jewelry are made, and various cold working techniques of grinding, polishing and etching glass.
Working with fire and heat has always intrigued me. After being a chef for 13 years, a firefighter for four years and a welder for two years, it felt natural stepping into the glassblowing world.
In 2013, I started working at Harmony Glassworks where I blow glass for our art gallery, instruct classes, and I make my own art. Teaching glassblowing lessons to the public and guiding new glass enthusiasts has given me a new drive and passion for the material and process. I am looking forward to what the future holds.
I live in Harmony, California ~ population, 18 with my girlfriend, son, and our three dogs.
